Dubai Announces First Underwater Floating Mosque

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to promote Dubai's spiritual appeal and religious tourism. On September 21, 2023, Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansouri, the cultural communication consultant, held a press conference at the IACAD offices.

He announced a landmark project: a floating mosque to be built under the Tolerance Bridge on the Dubai Water Canal. This remarkable construction will be the first underwater floating mosque in the world and a beautiful place among Dubai's many other famous attractions.

The Vision Behind the Project

More than simply an impressive piece of architecture, the Dubai Underwater Floating Mosque project has a more profound purpose. It represents a long-term goal to establish Dubai as a premier destination for pilgrims worldwide. More than simply an impressive piece of architecture, the Dubai Underwater Floating Mosque project has a more profound purpose. A long-term goal is to establish Dubai as a premier destination for pilgrims worldwide.

Design and Construction

The impressive mosque will cost AED 55 million to build and is expected to be finished in a year. It will have three stories, with the ground floor being underwater. This floor may hold up to seventy-five worshipers and provide ablution and bathroom facilities. The lower two floors will be used for various purposes, including displaying Islamic relics and exhibitions, housing a coffee shop, and conducting educational events.

Inclusivity and Respect for Tradition

This project's dedication to diversity and inclusion stands out as particularly notable. The mosque will welcome individuals of all faiths, but its guests must respect Islamic rituals and dress appropriately. By taking such precautions, visitors to the mosque will not disrupt the peaceful atmosphere inside. Mutual appreciation and understanding across cultures will be promoted through this mosque.

The Broader Scope of the Religious Tourism Project

The Religious Tourism Project by IACAD includes the construction of the Dubai Underwater Floating Mosque. It also has several additional endeavors to increase mutual respect, tolerance, and knowledge among the world's many faiths.

During the holy month of Ramadan, events like Hala Ramadan and Dubai Iftar bring people of all faiths together for iftar together over a meal.

Quranic Exhibition:

The life of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum is chronicled in this exhibition. His efforts resulted in thousands of copies of the Holy Quran spreading over the world.

Quran Park Expansion:

The Quran Park will be expanded to include a new section devoted to teaching visitors. It is about the medicinal plants and herbs referenced by the Prophet Muhammad. This endeavor is unlike any other since it mixes spirituality and learning.

Exclusive Markets:

The concept would establish marketplaces that provide more than just shopping during holidays like Ramadan and Eid. These marketplaces will be cultural centers, showcasing Dubai's history, religion, and customs.

Conclusion

The Underwater Floating Mosque in Dubai is a creative effort to encourage religious tourism, cross-cultural understanding, and mutual respect. The fact that anybody may enter the mosque represents Dubai's commitment to diversity and tolerance. The world's first underwater mosque will soon symbolize peace, spirituality, and cultural respect in the center of this bustling city.
